Pinterest Video Not Downloading? How to Fix It (2026)

Updated 2026 · 7 min read

You've found the perfect Pinterest video, tapped the download button on some tool, and instead of saving to your phone — the video just opens in a new browser tab. Or maybe nothing happens at all. This is one of the most common Pinterest download problems, and it has specific causes and fixes for each device. Here's everything you need to know.

The root cause

Pinterest hosts videos on a different domain (pinimg.com). When a downloader gives you a direct link to this domain, browsers treat it as cross-origin and ignore the download instruction — playing it instead of saving it. AdvayPinSaver fixes this by routing the file through its own server, forcing a real file save on every device.

Fix 1 — Video opens in new tab instead of downloading

This is the most common problem and it happens with almost every Pinterest downloader that gives you a "direct link". The fix is to use a downloader that proxies the file through its own server — which is exactly what AdvayPinSaver does.

How to fix it with AdvayPinSaver:

  1. Paste your Pinterest link and tap Get
  2. Tap Get direct file link — not the HD button
  3. Wait for the countdown on the next page
  4. Tap Download Now — the file downloads through our server and saves directly

Fix 2 — iPhone: video saves to Files not Photos

On iPhone, downloaded video files go to Safari's Downloads folder, not the Camera Roll. This is an iOS limitation — Safari doesn't automatically add downloaded files to Photos.

Steps to move it to Camera Roll:

  1. Tap the download arrow icon in Safari's toolbar (bottom right)
  2. Tap the downloaded MP4 file to preview it
  3. Tap the Share icon
  4. Tap Save Video — it now appears in your Photos app

Fix 3 — Android: download starts but file isn't in Gallery

Android saves downloads to the Downloads folder, not the gallery. Your file is there — it just hasn't been moved to a folder your gallery app scans.

Steps to move to Gallery:

  1. Open your Files app
  2. Navigate to Downloads
  3. Long-press the MP4 file
  4. Tap Move → select Pictures or DCIM
  5. Your gallery app will pick it up automatically

Fix 4 — Link expired before download finished

AdvayPinSaver's download links are valid for 30 minutes. If you waited too long or your connection was slow, the link may have expired mid-download.

Go back to AdvayPinSaver, paste the Pinterest link again and repeat the download. It takes only a few seconds to regenerate a new link. There's no limit on how many times you can do this.

Fix 5 — Pinterest link doesn't work (no media found)

Some Pinterest links don't contain downloadable media — for example, links to a user profile, a search result, or a board rather than a specific pin. Make sure your link points to an individual pin and looks like pinterest.com/pin/123456789 or a pin.it/xxxxx short link.

Fix 6 — Download button does nothing at all

This usually means the browser is blocking the pop-up or new tab that the download requires. Check your browser's pop-up blocker settings and allow pop-ups for AdvayPinSaver. On Chrome for Android, tap the three dots → Settings → Site Settings → Pop-ups and redirects → Allow for this site.
